Hot water quotes, before yours runs cold.
Show us your existing unit. We'll read the size, type, brand and condition, then walk you through replacement options — gas, electric, heat pump, or solar boost. The plumber's on call for same-week install.
How hot water quoting actually works
Camera on. Walk through. Talk through what you want. A licensed Australian tradie signs off in under an hour.
Hot water is an emergency purchase 70% of the time — yours has just failed, you have no hot water, and you need a number fast. Quotefor.au exists for that exact moment. Most hot water quotes from local plumbers cost a $190 callout fee just to get a number. Ours is free, takes 22 seconds, and a licensed plumber can be on site within 48 hours if you accept.
There are four common hot water options in Australia: continuous-flow gas (best for instant volume, requires gas connection), electric storage (cheapest upfront, expensive to run), heat pump (lowest running cost, ~3x more efficient than electric storage, eligible for rebates), and solar with electric boost (zero running cost on a sunny day, requires roof space and tank). We quote all four whenever your install allows, so you can decide on lifetime cost, not just sticker price.
If you're replacing an electric storage with a heat pump, you're likely eligible for STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates) worth $400–$1,200 off the price, plus state rebates in Victoria, NSW and ACT. Our quote applies these automatically based on your address.
What our vision model scans for
Trained on more than 26,000 Australian residential jobs across every state and climate zone.
Existing unit identification
Brand, model, size and approximate age — the AI reads the rating plate from the camera and looks up the spec sheet to give you an honest 'is it worth repairing' opinion.
Connection points
Gas, electric, water, pressure relief, overflow — the AI maps existing connections so the plumber can quote like-for-like swap vs reconfiguration.
Rebate eligibility cues
Some rebates require a specific replacement direction (electric storage → heat pump). The AI checks your existing unit type against current state rebate rules.
Household size & usage
'Four adults, two showers a day, dishwasher.' The AI sizes the replacement to your hot water draw, not just the existing tank size.
Every hot water quote, itemised.
Indicative line items. The AI scopes which apply to your specific job — and the licensed tradie signs off the final pricing.

Hot water quotes, answered.
Things homeowners ask before they book. If yours isn't here, the AI will answer during your walkthrough.
How fast can you replace a failed hot water system?
Most metropolitan areas: within 48 hours of quote acceptance. Regional areas: 3–5 days. If your unit has burst and is leaking, the plumber will prioritise — quote a temporary cap-off and replacement in the same visit. Same-day emergency callouts available at +$240 in capital cities.
Heat pump vs gas — which is cheaper to run?
Heat pump, in almost every climate zone in Australia. A typical heat pump uses 25–30% of the energy of an equivalent electric storage unit, and 70–80% of the energy of a continuous-flow gas unit. The catch: heat pumps cost more upfront ($2,800–$4,800 vs $1,800–$3,200 for gas). Payback is usually 4–6 years.
Will rebates apply to my install?
If you're replacing an electric storage with a heat pump or solar system, yes — federal STCs apply Australia-wide and are usually worth $400–$1,200 off the quoted price. State rebates apply in NSW, VIC and ACT for eligible heat pump installs. Our quote applies all rebates you qualify for automatically based on your address.
Can I get a quote without my old unit being visible?
Yes — but it's harder. If your unit is in a tight cupboard or external box you can't open, take a photo of the data plate and we'll work from that. Worst case the plumber will price for a 'most likely' scenario and confirm before the swap.
What size tank do I need?
A common rule: 50L per person for storage tanks. So 4 adults = 200L+, 6 people = 315L. For continuous-flow gas, sizing is by L/min: a 26L/min unit will run 2 showers and a tap simultaneously. The AI sizes for your household during the walkthrough.
Are the plumbers licensed?
Yes. Every plumber on Quotefor.au is licensed and insured in their state. Gas work requires a separate gas licence which we also verify. You'll receive a compliance certificate on completion.
