Split system quotes, before the next heatwave.

Stand in the room. Tell us where you want the head. Our AI calculates the kW load based on room size, glazing, ceiling height and orientation, then quotes the install — including conduit, drain run and bracket. Tradie-signed within an hour.

01 — OVERVIEW

How split system quoting actually works

Camera on. Walk through. Talk through what you want. A licensed Australian tradie signs off in under an hour.

Split system pricing is mostly about install complexity, not the unit. A 5kW Mitsubishi Electric head is the same wholesale price whether it goes on a single-storey weatherboard or a third-floor apartment — but the install cost can vary by $1,200 depending on access, pipe run, and whether you need scaffolding. Our AI scopes the install during your walkthrough, not just the unit.

Sizing is the second hidden variable. An undersized unit runs flat-out and never reaches setpoint; an oversized one cycles inefficiently and feels muggy. We use AS/NZS 5141 (the official cooling load calculator) with vision-derived room dimensions, glazing area, orientation, and your stated insulation level to recommend the right kW class. We're not optimising for selling you the biggest unit — we're optimising for your power bill.

Every install includes the F-Gas (refrigerant handling) compliance, the AS/NZS 3000 electrical certificate, and a 5-year warranty on installation labour. We use Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu as our default brands — premium Japanese inverters with 10-year manufacturer warranties.

02 — WHAT THE AI SEES

What our vision model scans for

Trained on more than 26,000 Australian residential jobs across every state and climate zone.

Vision

Room dimensions & glazing

The AI measures floor area, ceiling height and window area to compute the AS/NZS 5141 cooling load — the right kW class for your room.

Vision

Outdoor unit location

Side gangway, courtyard, balcony, or roof — the AI proposes a location respecting noise rules, neighbour proximity, and your stated preferences.

Vision

Pipe run feasibility

We trace the proposed pipe route from indoor head to outdoor unit, identifying any wall penetrations, eave runs, or conduit lengths that affect install cost.

Audio

Use case

'Bedroom, just for sleeping in summer.' vs 'Open-plan living, runs all day.' The AI sizes accordingly — efficient at sleep, capable for daytime.

07 — FAQ

Split system quotes, answered.

Things homeowners ask before they book. If yours isn't here, the AI will answer during your walkthrough.

What size split system do I need?

For bedrooms: 2.5kW. For medium rooms: 3.5–5kW. For open-plan living (30–50m²): 6–8kW. For very large or vaulted spaces: 9kW+ or multi-head. The AI does this calculation during your walkthrough based on actual room size, glazing area and orientation — it's far more accurate than a rule of thumb.

How long does install take?

Single-head install: 4–6 hours, same day. Multi-head install: 1–2 days. We schedule installs Tuesday–Friday to allow time for any post-install commissioning. Same-week install is standard in summer; in February/March (peak demand) it can stretch to 10 days.

Daikin, Mitsubishi or Fujitsu?

All three are excellent and we install all three. Daikin tends to win on energy efficiency (highest star ratings). Mitsubishi Electric wins on quietness (lowest noise in bedroom heads). Fujitsu wins on price-for-performance in larger heads. We'll recommend the best fit for your room and budget at quote time.

Do I need three-phase power?

No, for single-head and most 2-head installs. For 3+ head multi-systems running an 11kW+ outdoor compressor, three-phase makes sense and is sometimes required. The AI checks your switchboard during the walkthrough and flags if a phase upgrade would be needed (+$1,800–$3,400).

Can I keep my old unit running until install day?

Yes. We schedule the swap so the old unit comes off the wall, the new pipe is run, and the new head is mounted the same day — typically a 4-hour outage. If you have an essential medical need for cooling, we can stagger so you're never without AC.

What about ducted systems?

Quotefor.au currently focuses on split systems. Ducted (zoned, ceiling cassette) is a different category and we'll add it in 2026 Q3. For now, we can refer you to a partner installer for a fixed-fee scoping at no markup.
